It is a hyper reaction of the skin characterized by the onset of ticking, heating, and a tingling sensation on the skin resulting in a loss of skin comfort, and sometimes associated to pain or pruritus, and to multiple factors, whether physical (ultraviolet rays, heat, cold, wind), chemical (cosmetic, soap, water, pollution), psychological (stress) or hormone (menstrual cycle).
Sensitive, irritable, reactive or intolerant skin affects one out of every two women and one out of every three men.
Sensitive skin affects a great part of the French population. There is a thin line between sensitive skin and non-sensitive skin.
Visible symptoms of sensitive skin and/or reactive skin are not very clear: redness, desquamation or dryness that usually come along with signs of discomfort, like a stinging or burning sensation. Sensitive skin seems to redden more easily for no reason in case of emotional event or after sun exposure. Similarly, all skin phototypes are affected, though women with fair and smooth skin are more predisposed.
The hyper reaction of the skin is not permanent. Hyper reaction evolves in days or months, sometimes depending on the season.
The aim is therefore to provide a treatment that allows:
> To cause rapid comfort with and immediate and durable relief by checking the inflammatory response
> To ensure physical protection to recover the barrier function and to prevent the penetration of irritating agents
> To ensure good hydration to help skin regain comfort, flexibility and elasticity .
All of this allows recovering the skin ecosystem, with a threshold of normal sensitivity.
Avoid the irritant factors that follow:
> Soaps
> Hydro-alcohol gels and lotions
> Essential oils
> Complex cosmetic products as it is difficult to identify their ingredients
> Abrasive make-up removal
> Cleanser face-packs, scrubs, exfoliation kits or home micro-abrasion.
If the skin tolerates water contact: for cleansing use a syndet followed by a careful rinse.
If the skin does not tolerate water contact: preferably use eau micellaire or cleansing milk.
Use a limited number of products.
Preferably use simple products (with few ingredients).
Preferably use mild products: with no perfume (including hypoallergenic products), no coloring agents, no alcohol, no irritant molecules.
Do not hesitate to contact a dermatologist.
Based on these criteria, Noreva laboratories have launched a line called SENSIDIANE®.
